HID
LANDING & TAXI LIGHT KITS
Landing and taxi light systems are crucial for ensuring situational awareness during the most critical phases of your flight. Whelen Aerospace Technologies (WAT) HID lighting systems are engineered with patented reflector and lamp technologies to provide the brightest illumination, designed specifically for the unique demands of aircraft lighting.
-
ENHANCED VISBILITY
WAT's HID kits significantly improve illumination, offering brighter and more focused light compared to traditional incandescent systems, ensuring safer operations during night flights and in poor weather conditions.
-
LOWER OPERATING TEMPERATURES
Despite their highter light output, these HID kits operate at cooler temperatures, reducing the risk of heat damage to the lenses and surrounding aircraft components.
-
ENERGY EFFICIENCY
The HID technology used in these kits is more energy- efficient, providing superior brightness with less power consumption, leading to longer lifespan for both the lights and the aircraft electrical system.
-
COMPREHENSIVE KIT
The kits come complete with all the necessary components, down to the wire ties needed for installation.
-
CUSTOM FIT DESIGN
Each kit is tailored for specific aircraft models, ensuring a perfect fit and seamless integration into the aircraft design.
-
COMPREHENSIVE WARRANTY
Every kit is backed by a robust 5-year or 5,000-hour warranty, ensuring your peace of mind and reliabilty over time.
-
APPROVALS
WAT offers a range of FAA STC, EASA, ANAC, INAC, and Transport Canada approved kits suitable for aircraft from single-engine pistons to commercial airliners.
WHAT IS HID LIGHTING?
HID (High-Intensity Discharge) lighting technology eliminates the need for filaments by using a single tungsten electrode encased in a quartz tube filled with Xenon gas and various metal salts. This advanced design enables WAT HID lights to produce beams that illuminate distances 2-3 times longer than comparable wattage halogen or LED lights. HIDs offer an optimal balance of output, cost, technology, and power, making them an excellent choice for aircraft requiring long-distance lighting.
WHAT MAKES WAT HID'S SPECIAL?
85W Dual Powered Ballast: Our patented ballast starts at 60W, emitting a white/blue light in "recognition mode." After 23 seconds, it ramps up to 85W, transitioning to a natural daylight color known as "landing mode." This design extends ballast life and provides superior daytime visibility. The natural daylight color in landing mode enhances night landing visibility.
HID Multi-Light Array (MLA): Our patented MLA assemblies deliver over 1 million candle power and feature built-in redundancy. Each lamp in the array is independently powered by its own ballast, ensuring that in the rare event of a failure, only a single light fails, not the entire assembly. This ensures optimal dispatch reliability for every flight.
